Luxury resort earns top World Ski Awards honour during global tourism industry’s most challenging year
Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside has earned the prestigious title of Canada’s Best Ski Hotel for the eighth year in a row, based on votes from leading ski tourism professionals, media and consumers. The World Ski Awards – the premier awards program in global ski tourism – recognized the all-suite, lodge-style hotel for its impeccable and personalized service, coveted amenities, and ideal proximity to Whistler and Blackcomb mountains.
The World Ski Awards were established to elevate standards within the ski industry by recognizing, rewarding and celebrating excellence in ski tourism worldwide. Each year, hundreds of thousands of travel professionals, skiers, hotel guests and media cast their votes for their favourite ski destinations and brands, with national categories including Best Ski Resort, Best Ski Hotel, Best Ski Boutique Hotel and Best Ski Chalet. Instead of the customary gala ceremony – which has been postponed to 2021 – the winners were celebrated virtually at the inaugural World Ski Awards Winners Day on November 20.
This year, notwithstanding the required closures to stop the spread of COVID-19, Pan Pacific Whistler overcame strong competition from properties across the country to retain the title. Neighbouring properties Four Seasons Resort & Residences Whistler and Fairmont Chateau Whistler were among the nominees’ list, as were Fairmont Banff Springs, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, Post Hotel & Spa and The Rimrock Resort Hotel.
“We are honoured to be named Best Ski Hotel in Canada for the eighth consecutive year,” said Julie Lanteigne, general manager of Pan Pacific Whistler hotels. “The award is particularly meaningful to us this year, as we – along with the entire tourism industry – have faced challenges like never before. To earn this honour once again, despite the devastating effects of the global pandemic, is incredibly gratifying and motivating. Recognizing that many Canadians are looking forward to a well-deserved getaway when it is safe to travel once again, we are pleased to offer discounts for locals, flexible cancellation policies, and enhanced health and safety protocols for the foreseeable future.”
The property’s sister resort – Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre – similarly offers access to world-renowned skiing, hiking and mountain biking trails, spacious residential suites and nearby golf, fishing and other outdoor adventure. For more information or to book at either property, click here.
