No Road Trip is complete without the perfect place to stay. Where I stay is important to me whether it be five star luxury or clamping my comfort is at top of mind. We stayed in a number of different places on our Okanagan Road Trip and all were fabulous! Each place was totally different than another and we loved all of the places we stayed.
This charming motel in the heart of Naramata is my recommendation for where to stay. We had the most delightful visit last fall and I note that as of the time of this post there is still some availability for July and August. Here is the link to reserve (three day minimum stay) The Village Motel.
One of the most memorable stays has to be the Village Motel. It’s like stepping back in time with all the good memories included! I loved it here and will definitely go back again. The Village Motel is the perfect setting for an old school family reunion with it’s spacious courtyard area with groupings of adirondack chairs decked out with comfy cushions and throws for cozy nights. Their group picnic table with barbecue is perfect for a crowd or big family gathering.
Planning a small, intimate wedding? What a fabulous place for those couples looking to step out of the spotlight of a big, expensive wedding and step into the most romantic and adorable scene.
Whatever the occasion the Village Motel sets the stage. Cozy, comfortable, friendly and scrupulously clean, not to mention the on-site coffee and bakery bar Just Baked. We spent our mornings sipping coffees and munching on the daily, home baked goodies. This is a place where you leave your worries and troubles at the door and just relax.
Okay, admittedly The Village Motel isn’t for everyone. It is for those of us with memories of family vacations by the lake where the kids hang out having fun and the grown-ups relax in real time. It’s 1950 transformed into the 2020’s by owner and proprietor Deb Selwood who makes you feel like family. I loved it and if you want basic, good, clean, family accommodation this is the place for you. Each room or suite comes with a kitchenette. Located right across from the Naramata General Store you will have everything you need to make your stay the best ever.

The charming Village Motel is situated in the heart of Naramata, a short walk to beaches, parks, restaurants and shops. With a setting befitting that of a Hallmark movie, this community hub turns visitors into locals with invitations to gather around courtyard tables for chats with owner Deb Selwood.
The most adorable coffee shop ever awaits in the on-site cafe. Boasting delicious pastries and caffeinated drinks, Just Baked is run by another long time Naramatian – Selwood’s lovely daughter Ashley.
All of the suites open to an inviting courtyard, where visitors relax with a morning paper and coffee, enjoy bites of lunch from the General Store, make new friends with fellow visitors and share the day’s memories over a glass of wine (or two) after enjoying all that Naramata has to offer.
The motel is both child and dog friendly offering a variety of room configurations. Suite options include Junior Queen, Standard Queen, One Bedroom Suite and the Family Suite. All have air conditioning and most have a kitchenette (with the exception of the Junior Queen that has a microwave, mini fridge and coffee maker).

About the Naramata General Store
The Naramata General Store is the hub of a village that punches well above its weight. The iconic store fulfills its role as community hub and one-stop-shop as it has for generations. Offering much more than fresh groceries, a liquor store, post office, deli and bottle depot, the store remains a long-time gathering place that is frequented by residents, neighbours and visitors alike. The General Store is under loving new ownership from two long time Naramatians – Cynthia and David Enns – and operating partners – graphic designer and creative, Carole Morton and Mike Bernardo – a 20 year restaurant industry veteran with Vikram Vij’s stable of restaurants. Bernardo was also Sommelier of the Year in 2014.
