Okanagan Road Trip – Miradoro Restaurant at Tinhorn Creek

For the very last night of our road trip we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to dine at one of our favourite, not to be missed, spots – Miradoro Restaurant at Tinhorn Creek. Always a special treat and this night did not disappoint. Even though the restaurant was it’s usual Saturday night busy they managed to squeeze us in, and at one of the best view tables you will ever have the pleasure to grace.

After a week of wine tasting, touring and no restraint dining we were ready to relax and just enjoy the tasty, locally sourced dishes from Chef Jeff Van Geest and his hustling kitchen team. After a quick and madcap tour of the kitchen my mind was definitely on the pasta!

For this evening we wanted to wind down so that meant a Kir Royale for me and a Canadian whisky for hubby while we drank in the views and the cocktails. Although the restaurant was crazy busy with several large groups the atmosphere out on the deck was serene and service well paced, never rushed, it was ideal for our final evening in the Okanagan.

We decided to share a couple of plates and chose the seasonal salad which was chock full of local greens and in season ingredients. Note that this stacked high plate is a half portion of the salad we shared and enjoyed. Fresh and flavourful it was the perfect starter.

How can you pick anything but the last of the season tomatoes and Burrata? It was a slam dunk for us because we had been craving some pasta. Having watched Chef tossing the Carbonara in the pan my mouth was watering. So did we opt for their uniquely delicious black pepper Carbonara? Not this time, it was the lure of the locally grown tomatoes that made up our mind. Again a shared plate which was fabulous, succulent tomatoes, just right pasta in texture and quantity topped with the fresh Burrata. It was a dream, rich and deliciously luxurious, so glad we chose this, over the top dish, to share.

It’s been a couple of weeks since our visit and the restaurant is now into their fall menu with fabulous new dishes to try, and what a great menu it is, choosing which dishes to try might be the hardest part. Here is the new fall menu:
